Alternative Dispute Resolution
Ryan Ryan Deluca’s strong track record in litigating and trying cases to conclusion in state and federal courts across Connecticut has led to many other litigants seeking our assistance in resolving their disputes. Our Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice was born out of requests by other lawyers and parties to act as the neutral in various civil litigation matters.
Our mediation practice is led by Retired Judge Michael P. Kamp who served as a Connecticut Superior Court judge for 11 years before retiring from the bench in November 2023. Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Kamp spent more than 25 years as a civil litigator. While on the bench, Judge Kamp presided over hundreds of court and jury trials and conducted pretrial conferences and mediations in a variety of cases including medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, construction, probate litigation, and business litigation.
Attorney Robert O. Hickey, a partner at the firm with 25 years of experience as a litigator, serves as a mediator in state and federal court civil matters. Attorney Hickey’s mediation practice focuses on personal injury matters, but he has also helped resolve numerous other types of cases through successful mediation.
The Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practice group offers mediation services in many areas of practice including:
- Personal injury and wrongful death matters;
- Commercial disputes;
- Medical and legal malpractice cases;
- Construction defect cases;
- Land use disputes;
- Probate matters; and,
- Employment matters.
Our mediation practice is the perfect complement to our active litigation practice. Our active litigation and trial practice keeps us informed of how juries are assessing cases and allows us to better understand settlement values. We understand how risk should be evaluated and how a negotiated resolution can bring value to both sides of a case.
