Construction Law
RRD has extensive experience defending clients in all aspects of construction litigation. We regularly represent the interests of owners, general contractors, construction managers, subcontractors, suppliers and other parties involved in construction projects throughout the State of Connecticut.
We have handled a variety of construction related lawsuits, including construction defect claims, breach of contract claims, indemnity disputes, additional insured issues, job site accidents and other tort claims seeking damages for personal injuries, wrongful death, property damage, economic loss and project delays.
Numerous legal and factual issues must be considered to identify the causes of a particular construction problem, its impact on the critical path, and the resulting damages. We work closely with our clients and our experts to identify these issues and develop the strategies required to bring these matters to resolution in the most cost effective and efficient manner.
Representative cases in this area include:
- Representation of contractors involved in numerous job site accident cases involving alleged violations of OSHA and other regulations;
- Successful defense of a highway contractor in a case involving the accidental destruction of underground conduits containing the primary long-distance telephone lines in the area;
- Defense of an excavation company against claims for more than a million dollars in property damage and business interruption resulting from the severing of underground electrical lines; and
- The defense of the general trade's contractor in a construction defect case seeking millions of dollars in damages, allegedly arising out of the construction of a state owned library. The trial court granted the defendants' motions to strike and dismissed the case.
