Partner Rob Laney Presents Medicare Seminar to the FCBA

RRD Partner Rob Laney presented a seminar to the Fairfield County Bar Association on changes to Medicare reimbursement requirements on November 4, 2010.

The seminar was entitled “How the New Medicare Rules Will Affect Your Personal Injury Practice: A Discussion of MMSEA 2007 and its Reporting/Reimbursement Requirements” and was attended by local in-house counsel and private practice attorneys.

Topics discussed included the new enforcement tools available to Medicare to ensure compliance with the Medicare Secondary Payer Act and the impact these tools, which include significant civil penalties against lawyers and insurers, will have on the process of settling civil lawsuits involving Medicare beneficiaries and individuals who may soon become Medicare-eligible.
