Patrick J. Corcoran is Counsel with the firm and brings a unique client perspective to his work. Pat started his career in New York City with Shearman & Sterling where he litigated complex commercial, environmental, product, and financial matters, including several arbitrations. He relocated to Connecticut where he joined Wiggin and Dana in New Haven and litigated medical malpractice, franchise, commercial, and aviation matters. Pat then embarked on a 17-year in-house legal career with United Technologies Corporation, which included more than 12 years as the head of litigation in North America for Otis Elevator Company. At Otis, he oversaw a 15-person claims and litigation department and managed personal injury, product liability, employment, and asbestos litigation, including mediating scores of matters to resolution. Pat was also a member of the Otis Product and Service Safety Council and handled OSHA regulatory matters. After leaving UTC, Pat joined Republic Services, Inc. in Phoenix, Arizona, as Senior Corporate Counsel where he handled serious motor vehicle, premises, and product/services liability cases and represented the company in OSHA regulatory proceedings arising from Republic’s waste management and environmental services business.
Pat’s work at the firm is focused on civil litigation defense, including personal injury and premises liability, product liability, motor vehicle liability, professional negligence liability, railroad and employment litigation.
Pat received his Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Boston College and earned his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law, where he was the Articles Editor for the St. John’s Law Review.
