John W. Cannavino, Jr. is a partner of Ryan Ryan Deluca LLP and chairs the firm’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee. In that role, he coordinates the firm’s efforts to advance diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging both in the practice of law and within our larger community. As just one example, in spearheading the firm’s Summer Associate program, John and RRD work in close partnership with the University of Connecticut School of Law Cultural Diversity Initiative (“CDI”), and the firm supports CDI programming for law students throughout the year. RRD is also a proud signatory to the Connecticut Legal Community’s Diversity & Inclusion Pledge & Plan and supports the Connecticut Bar Association’s LSAT scholarship program. In 2020, the firm joined the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (“LFAA”), a national coalition of law firms aiming to create large-scale, coordinated pro bono projects that address systemic racism.
Part of the way the firm’s DEIB Committee supports diverse communities is through the firm’s commitment to community service. In particular, the firm and John have supported the Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport, CT.
John’s law practice covers a wide range of civil matters. He is an experienced trial attorney who has handled numerous high exposure cases to verdict. He focuses on his individual client’s needs, tailoring his approach in each matter to the client’s goals in the litigation. He also provides individuals and business organizations advice on legal issues prior to litigation, with the goal of resolving disputes should the client wish to do so prior to the initiation of legal action.
John W. Cannavino graduated from Case Western Reserve University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He attended the University of San Francisco School of Law and graduated cum laude in 2007.
